This is the Vladimirskaya, the icon I had in my room as a child. When I prayed to her, I would look at her eyes. They are an inexhaustible treasure for meditation. They are attentive, severe, just, pure, loving…
Many times I didn’t need more than to meet her gaze to find peace and focus. In those eyes is the fullness of truth.
So, this blog is an attempt to see life through or with Mary’s eyes. It is something of a spiritual experiment. I put everything from novels to knitting in Her hands and attempt to use her eyes to see life, instead of my own ‘cloudy’ eyes.
The light of thy body is thy eye. If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be lightsome: but if it be evil, thy body also will be darksome. (Luke 11:34)
The assortment of subjects on this blog will therefore be selected from various areas of life, but always with attention to the question: “How do you see this, Mary?”
It is an attempt at achieving a Heavenly Perspective.
